Plot

The movie starts off with Master Gunnery Sergeant Thomas Beckett (Berenger), an experienced sniper, and his spotter Cpl. Papich (Young) assassinating a Panamanian rebel leader in the jungle. Afterward, they take up a position in an isolated part of the jungle and wait out until nighttime for an extraction. However, they are extracted at daylight much to the dismay of Beckett. An experienced rebel sniper, formerly trained by Beckett, kills Papich as the two reach the helicopter, but Beckett is able to retrieve his body and bring it to the helicopter. Infuriated, Beckett blames the helicopter CO for Papich's death.

Beckett is paired up with the contrastingly inexperienced, and civilian, Richard Miller (Zane). Their goal: to eliminate a rebel general who is being financed by a reclusive Panamanian drug lord. Miller is a SWAT team sharpshooter but lacks combat experience and has no confirmed kills to his name. When he is on the way to the staging area, his helicopter is attacked by a guerrilla with an assault rifle, who kills most of the men in it. Miller takes out his rifle and acquires a bead on the man, but is unable to pull the trigger. Fortunately, the chopper's dying machine gunner manages to kill the guerrilla before succumbing to his wounds.

When Beckett and Miller set off, friction immediately occurs between them, based in part on Beckett's insistence on deviating from the mission plan that Miller was given, but mostly on the fact that Miller (though nominally in command) has no experience or aptitude for jungle operations. Early on, they encounter a group of Indians, who agree to lead them past the rebel guerrillas, in return for a favor. They want the team to eliminate El Cirujano ("the Surgeon"), a torture master who's working with the rebels, listed as a target of opportunity.

Beckett agrees to do so, and informs Miller that he expects Miller to make the kill: the general is setting up a meeting with the drug lord, allowing the sniper team the opportunity to kill both men. However, Beckett is not certain of Miller's reliability. Miller proves him right by deliberately missing the shot. One of the Indians is killed by rebel return fire, and they refuse to help the team any further.

The two men continue to their target and along the way they head to a village priest that would provide details to the mission. However the priest was tortured and murdered by Alvarez's men before the two men can arrive. That night Beckett and Miller set up camp in the jungle and wait until dawn to move out. As Miller falls asleep, Beckett remains on guard. That night, the two are tracked by the very sniper who earlier killed Papich. Beckett uses Miller as bait to draw the sniper out, but kills him before Miller can be harmed. Miller is infuriated by this.

The two men reach the general's hacienda and take up positions while wearing ghillie suits. While they are waiting for their targets to emerge, Miller is seen. Beckett kills Miller's attacker while Miller shoots and kills the drug lord. The two rendezvous outside the compound, where Beckett insists on them going back to kill the general as well. Miller refuses and an argument erupts, leading to an exchange of fire between Beckett and Miller, as the latter follows orders to eliminate Beckett if he threatens the mission, which ends when Miller runs out of ammunition. Miller then calms down afterward under pressure from Beckett. As rebels close in on the two, Beckett attempts to provide cover fire for Miller but is subsequently captured by rebels. Miller is able to escape.

Miller that night heads to the base camp where Beckett is being held. Inside, he encounters the general and kills him with his knife, then sees Beckett being tortured and getting his trigger finger amputated by El Cirujano. Beckett mouths to Miller to shoot both Cirujano and Beckett himself with one shot, but instead Miller kills Cirujano and rescues Beckett. The two men reach their pick-up point and are safely extracted, after Beckett saves Miller's life by killing an ambusher.

Synopsis

Fong (Richie Ren) is renowned as the top shooter in the Special Duties Unit. But behind the legend lies a skeleton in the closet: his former teammate and superb marksman Ching (Huang Xiaoming), who was jailed for accidentally killing a hostage, has just been released. With only vengeance in his mind, Ching determines to take on Ming and the police, believing they are the real culprits for his downfall.[3]

This movie starts with a scene of two rookie cops getting involved in criminal shootout. One of them is OJ, who manages to stay calm and kills a criminal. Ming sees potential in this youngster and decides to take him under his wing. Yet when OJ becomes fascinated by Ching and determines to top his shooting skills, he becomes another wild card on the loose.

When a high-security prisoner transfer is sabotaged by a mysterious sniper, and when a major convict escapes, Ming and his team are dispatched to profile the suspect. OJ (Edison Chen), the hot-headed rookie on the team, surprises everyone by accurately replicating the suspect’s impossible shots. He manages to do this because of advice from Ching.

Meanwhile, Ching continues his plan of revenge. Believing that Fong had withheld key evidence which could free him, Ching decides to lure him by ganging up with a triad leader and kills many cops, leading to the ultimate showdown amongst three expert snipers.

Plot

John Rambo (Sylvester Stallone) is a former member of an elite United States Army Special Forces unit, and was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his service in the Vietnam War. The film begins after the war, in America. Rambo is searching for one of his friends from his unit, Delmore Berry, and soon learns that he has died from cancer due to Agent Orange exposure. Although not yet revealed to the audience, Rambo knows he is now the last surviving member of his unit. The scene cuts to Rambo entering the small town of Hope, Washington on foot. With his long hair and military-style coat, he is quickly spotted by the town's overzealous and paranoid sheriff, Will Teasle (Brian Dennehy), who quickly drives Rambo out of town, noting his strong distaste for "drifters." Rambo heads back toward town immediately, to the dismay of Teasle, who arrests him.

Rambo is generally non-compliant with the officers at the station, and is brutalized and harassed by Art Galt (Jack Starrett), the sheriff's cruel head deputy and closest friend. While being processed, Rambo has flashbacks to his time as a prisoner of war. When Galt and two other officers (Chris Mulkey and David Caruso) attempt to dry-shave him with a straight razor, Rambo has a flashback to being tortured in a North Vietnamese P.O.W. Camp and loses control, escaping on instinct using his military training. He fights his way out of the station beating up most of the officers, throws a civilian off a motorcycle and steals it, and is pursued off-road into the nearby mountains. The deputies are eventually forced to search for Rambo on foot, and he climbs down onto a steep cliff to elude capture. After spotting Rambo from a helicopter, Galt blatantly disregards protocol and attempts to shoot him in cold blood. Rambo drops into a mass of trees, and cornered, throws a rock at the helicopter in self-defense. The helicopter pitches and Galt, the passenger, falls to his death. Teasle, who did not see Galt's attempt to kill Rambo, vows to avenge his friend's death.

Teasle leads his deputies into the woods in an attempt to capture Rambo. The deputies are inexperienced and bicker, particularly after learning over the radio about Rambo's combat experience and status as a war hero. Rambo quickly disables the small, disorganized team using guerrilla tactics and booby traps, severely wounding — but not killing — the deputies. In the chaos, Rambo isolates and confronts Teasle with a knife to the throat. "Don't push it or I'll give you a war you won't believe. Let it go", he warns, before disappearing into the woods. A base camp is assembled near the site and the National Guard is called in. United States Special Forces Colonel Sam Trautman (Richard Crenna) soon arrives, taking credit for training Rambo. He is surprised to find any of the deputies still alive, and warns that it would be safer to let Rambo go and find him after the situation has calmed down. Teasle refuses to give in.

Rambo is eventually cornered by the National Guard in a mine entrance. The inexperienced guardsmen fire a disposable M72 LAW rocket launcher at him, collapsing the mine and trapping him inside. They assume Rambo is dead. However, unbeknownst to his pursuers, Rambo has escaped into the tunnels of the mine. Rambo finds some old fuel and makes an improvised torch. After wading through waist‑deep water and fighting off rats, he finds an exit, near a main road. Rambo hijacks a passing Army truck and returns to town, crashing it into a gas station. He blocks the highway to anyone in pursuit by igniting the spilled fuel with a Zippo lighter. Now armed with an M60 machine gun, Rambo destroys a sporting goods shop and a few other businesses (all of which is done to keep Teasle off balance) before making his way to the police station, where Teasle awaits on the roof.

Eventually Rambo enters the police station. Teasle spots Rambo and fires at him, but misses. Rambo shoots back at Teasle, injuring him. Teasle falls through the roof onto the floor. Rambo steps over him, prepared to kill him. Before Rambo can shoot Teasle, Colonel Trautman appears and tells him that there is no hope of escaping alive. Rambo, now surrounded by the police, rages about the horrors of war, and the difficulties he has faced adapting to civilian life. He weeps as he recounts a particularly gruesome story about witnessing his friend's death. Rambo then turns himself in to Trautman, and is arrested. The credits roll as he and Trautman exit the police station.
